Moc Chau – Vietnam's Flower Plateau and Tea Country

Moc Chau Plateau sits at around 1,000 metres above sea level in Son La Province, 200 km northwest of Hanoi (4 hours). It is famous above all for its spectacular flower seasons: vast orchards of plum (January–February) and peach blossoms (late January–March) colour the hillsides white and pink. The plateau is also Vietnam's dairy heartland, with green pastures reminiscent of rural Europe, and home to extensive tea plantations producing green and oolong teas. Hmong, Thai and Muong minority villages dot the surrounding mountains. The cool climate makes it a refreshing retreat from the Hanoi heat.
