Buon Ma Thuot – The Coffee Capital of Vietnam
Buon Ma Thuot (BMT) is the capital of Dak Lak Province and the unofficial capital of Vietnam's coffee industry – the Central Highlands produce over 60% of Vietnam's total coffee output, and the country is the world's second-largest coffee exporter. Coffee tours, farm visits and cupping experiences are popular here. BMT is also home to the Ede ethnic minority, whose matrilineal longhouses and gong music culture are fascinating. The nearby Yok Don National Park – Vietnam's largest – is home to Asian elephants, and ethical elephant sanctuaries offer walking experiences (no riding). The scenic Dray Nur and Dray Sap waterfalls are 25 km from the city. Daily flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
